The man accused of murdering an Albuquerque couple in their own home sat quietly in court Friday as the couple's daughter took the stand for the second day in a row.

The double-murder trial for Ronald Santiago continued with Renee Ohlemacher answering more questions, even reading excerpts from her private diary out loud.

Defense attorneys for Ronald Santiago worked to show life wasn't always happy in the Ohlemacher home.

The defense submitted Renee's diary from her teenage years as evidence.

They had her read excerpts spanning from 2001 up to 2005, the year her parents were murdered.

Her entries describe a married couple on the verge of divorce, and a teenage Renee angry at them for it.

The defense has said from the start they believe Renee should be the one on trial for her parents' murder.

Police questioned her at length and eventually cleared her.

They ended up arresting Ronald Santiago.

Prosecutors say he shot and killed the couple in their home after trying to steal their money while he worked for Countrywide Loans.

The state asked Renee to talk about her struggles to heal after her parents' death, and they had her show her tattoos; one on each arm.

Her right arm has her parents' names, the left has the last line of a letter her mother wrote to her, " I love you eternally...x's and o's."

There was also a big discussion in the courtroom about how much insurance money and pensions Renee got after her parents died.

Santiago's trial is expected to last about a month.
