Cameron Bairstow scored 22 points and had 4 blocks to lead New Mexico to a 78-65 road win against Utah State.
New Mexico (16-4, 7-1) went into the half up double digits and was up by at least 12 points before a run by Utah State (12-8, 2-6) cut the lead to within two points with 9:44 left in the game.
A free throw by Bairstow and 5 points by Cullen Neal in the Lobos next three possessions put the lead out of reach for the Aggies.
Early on, both teams shot lights out from long range and combined for 11 3-point baskets in the first half. Utah State opened the game 3 for 3 from the three point line. The Aggies finished 6 for 12 in the game.
Deshawn Delaney (12 pts, 3 reb) opened the game with a 3-point bucket and the Lobos quick trigger gave them an early advantage.
Utah State was led by Jarred Shaw with 15 points and 7 rebounds. Preston Medlin was 3 for 5 from 3 point range, he finished with 13 points.
Kendall Williams had a stout 16 points on 5 for 9 shooting. He also had 3 assist and 3 rebounds. Neal finished with 12 points and 4 rebounds.
Obij Aget started for the second straight game for Alex Kirk who sat on the bench in street clothes due to injury. Aget had 7 points and 4 rebounds before he fouled out late in the 2nd half.
