As hundreds of kids get ready for their baseball season to start, copper thieves have left their league with some serious problems.

KOB Eyewitness News 4 was there to catch the damage left behind at a field belonging to Zia Little League in Albuquerque.

Someone broke a gate and stripped copper wire from many of the ten light poles.

Zia planned to have tryouts in a couple of weeks, and start the season next month.

But, with the field out of commission at night, organizers are scrambling to figure out where some of the games can be played.

At this point, organizers aren't sure how much the repairs will cost, or if they even have enough money. They're also not sure how long it'll take to repair the poles.

A Wells Fargo account has been set up to benefit Zia Little League. The account number is 343139968.  Anyone can go into any Wells Fargo branch to make a donation simply by mentioning "Zia Little League Donation Account."
