ALAMOGORDO, N.M. (AP) - A scenic 8-mile drive in White Sands National Monument will reopen President's Day weekend.
The National Park Service announced Dunes Drive will be open to visitors Sunday starting at 8 a.m.
Dunes Drive had been closed for eight days due to recovery and cleanup efforts after a QF-4 drone from Holloman Air Force Base crashed Feb. 7.
Base officials say the cause of the crash isn't immediately known and it's under investigation.
Officials say entrance fees at all National Parks Service Sites, including White Sands, will be free Sunday and Monday because of the holiday.
