SANTA FE -- Veterans will be honored at the New Mexico Capitol on Monday for Military and Veterans' Day at the Legislature.
The state Departments of Veterans' Services and Military Affairs plan to honor and thank active-duty service members and veterans for their service and encourage them to meet their legislators to discuss legislative concerns.
Throughout the day, veterans and service members are invited to stop by informational tables set up by more than two dozen military and veterans' service organizations. The event takes place in the east and west wings of the Rotunda from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Gov. Susana Martinez is expected to speak at noon, as well as veterans service department Secretary Timothy Hale and New Mexico Adjutant General Andrew Salas.
"A government agency cannot function alone in serving our veterans and their families," Hale said. "It takes strong partnerships with our veterans' service organizations to reach out and help veterans in a large and diverse state such as New Mexico. I'm thankful for the great relationships we have with agencies and community partners throughout the state in order to provide the service our military community deserves."
