CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - A Texas man facing charges of killing his Dallas-area teacher girlfriend in New Mexico is heard on a 911 call saying she disappeared after threatening to leave with a man who "treated her right."

The 911 call released Thursday reveals that 33-year-old Robert Glenn Earley, of Euless, Texas, initially claimed 30-year-old Emily Rebecca Lambert vanished when they parted at a Carlsbad bar on Sunday morning following an argument.

He eventually told investigators he had knocked Lambert unconscious and took her to a rural area near Carlsbad. An affidavit says he struck her with an air pump and then used a rope and his car to drag her body behind a barn.

Earley is charged with murder and tampering with evidence.

It was not known if Earley has an attorney.
