The New Mexico State Aggies have earned a No. 13 seed in the NCAA tournament.
The Aggies will compete in the West-region and will take on a team that is very familiar to college basketball fans in the Land of Enchantment, the San Diego State Aztecs.
The Aztecs are coming off a Mountain West tournament loss to rival New Mexico.
Despite the loss, the Aztecs sill earned the No. 4 seed in the West-region.
SDSU is loaded with talent and the Aggies will need to find a way to stop MWC Player of the Year Xavier Thames.
One advantage for the Aggies is that head coach Marvin Menzies was an assistant under SDSU coach Steve Fisher from 1999-2003.
NMSU will be making its third straight tournament appearance, but the Aggies are still looking for a way out of the first round.
The Aggies will need a big game from WAC Player of the Year Daniel Mullings and big man Sim Bhullar.
Mullings is averaging 16.8 points a game this season and was the first NMSU player in school history to earn WAC Player of the Year honors.
The winner of this game gets either Oklahoma or North Dakota State in round two.
The first round game will be played in Spokane, Washington on Thursday.
