There are apps for games and apps for news, but what if you want to know what is going on in the city of Aztec? There is an app for that too.

“We are doing a lot of things that are technologically advanced and we should be this is not 1974, we are in 2014,” said Josh Ray, city manager of Aztec.

The city of Aztec has launched a free app that they hope will keep residents and visitors informed.

Ray said, “We want this app to be the access point for everybody in our city and anyone that has ever been to our city.”

The app cost the city $8,400 and in addition to news, pictures, links to the city's Facebook, Twitter and Pintrest, you can report issues around the city.

“You see a street light out at night, you use location services, you can take a picture, you can shoot a selfie in front of the street light and send it to the electric director, so the electric director says "this street light's out”,” said Ray.

So KOB Eyewitness News 4 took the app to the people to show off the cool new technology.

“Wow, cool,” Said Francis  Modzianowski, resident of Aztec.

A quick swipe and, “It’s got all these, developments and stories, music festival right here, that’s kinda cool.”

Easy to use and so far good feedback. Modzianowski said he would recommend the app to friends and probably use the app himself.
