I understand the drive that college basketball players have. They want to play in the NBA, but the percentage of the players go to the Association is minute. Perhaps Cleveland "Pancake" Thomas understands that and it's just a matter of being in the starting lineup or getting mass minutes. The way Craig Neal wants to play, Thomas would have seen plenty of time and in a 4-guard set. He may have been in the starting lineup. Now we'll never know.
What I do know is that with his departure the Lobos men's basketball team is in a state of flux. They are not deep in the back court and to play 4-guards-1-big offense you must have depth at the guard position. You do have Freshman Xavier Adams coming into the program. He was a big time scorer at the high school level. Joe Furstinger is a 6'9" power forward again a Freshman. Unless the Lobos add some ready for prime time players, those two freshman will see a lot of playing time.
