It’s a whole combo plate of Republican Party All-Stars – raising mucho money in May for Martinez in Maryland.
The biggest names in the Republican Party will take part in a huge fund-raising party for New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez and her campaign for re-election on May 21 in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
It’s at the home of American Beverage Association chief lobbyist Susan Neely, and tickets are $500 a pop – more if you want to eat at the grownups’ table. The guest list includes Florida Sen. Mario Rubio, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky, Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana, and Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan. Also expected are Speaker of the House John Boehner, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, Arizona Sen. John McCain, Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio, and Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah.
Neely’s home is a five bedroom colonial, with five baths and a two-car garage plus mother-in-law quarters. It’s about 8,500 square feet.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is expected to visit Martinez here in New Mexico on May 29 for another fund-raising event, if he doesn’t get stuck in a traffic jam. It’s not like Martinez has had any trouble raising money. On her most recent campaign finance report she lists about $4.2 million in the bank. The top fund-raising candidate on the Democratic side, Santa Fe businessman Alan Webber, has raised about one tenth of that amount.
