This morning, 32-year-old Mihdi Bathke was taken again into custody and is being held tonight on a $150,000 cash only bond. Bathke is charged with driving under the influence in a Mother's Day wreck.  Four people were sent to the hospital as a result of the wreck, one 7-year-old boy involved is still fighting for his life.

“As long as we have people and we have alcohol we are going to have problems,” said Steven Murphy.

Murphy is the lawyer representing the family hit by Bathke. He says though recent, Bathke's multiple charges are telling.

“We do see a pattern where it seems to be that he had a DWI years ago, no criminal conduct and then starting in February he kinda falls off the table with various charges.”

Bathke was making an appearance this morning for battery, child abuse and false imprisonment charges filed in April when the district attorney made a request that the terms of Bathke’s bond be revoked. He is in custody at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center.

Bathke also has pending charges starting in February involving burglary and aggravated assault. In March Bathke was terminated from the Farmington Fire Department.

This afternoon charges from the Mother's Day wreck have been amended to include two counts of great bodily injury, and one count of negligent use of a deadly weapon.

Murphy says injuries from the wreck will be costly.

“The hospital bills we anticipate to be in excess of $300,000.”

Tonight, the family of 7-year-old Ethan Murray are all rallying around him in Albuquerque, hoping and praying for the best.

Back in Farmington a prayer vigil is planned for the parking lot of Home Depot on East Main Street. The vigil starts at 8:30pm.
