SANTA FE -- George R.R. Martin, Santa Fe resident and author of the fantasy series "Game of Thrones," is fundraising for a New Mexico wolf sanctuary and a local food bank by raffling a unique trip.

Those who contribute to his campaign have the chance to join Martin on a helicopter tour of the Wild Spirit Wolf Sanctuary. All funds raised online will go to the sanctuary and to The Food Depot in Santa Fe.

Martin says he will fly the winner and a friend from anywhere in the world to meet with him in Santa Fe and embark on a helicopter ride to the wolf sanctuary.

Located in Candy Kitchen, New Mexico, Wild Spirit is a non-profit organization providing sanctuary for captive-bred wolves and wolf-dogs. The Food Depot is a food bank that helps tens of thousands of people in northern New Mexico.

"I've always been fond of wolves... direwolves in Westeros, and real wolves in the real world. US wolf populations hit critical lows during the twentieth century, and finding a way for humans to co-exist with this majestic creature is an important part of the conservation movement," Martin wrote on the campaign's website.
