The public is invited on Monday to say goodbye to the last of the original Navajo Code Talkers.

Chester Nez passed away on Wednesday of kidney failure in Albuquerque. The 93-year-old was part of the group that developed the code that confounded the Japanese during World War II.

A public viewing for Nez will be held Monday night at French Mortuary on Lomas and Eubank. The viewing will last from 5-8 p.m.

A mass is scheduled Tuesday morning at Our Lady of Fatima.

Nez will be buried at the Santa Fe National Cemetery.
