The staff at the Petroglyphs started their engines two weeks ago and are slowly marching around Rinconada Canyon to fix what Mother Nature damaged almost a year ago.

"We are constructing a trail. You can see posts which will go back a mile and a half to the canyon. They are going to replace the washed out trail," said Diane Souder with the Petroglyphs.

The washout can still be seen, which is why officials with the Petroglyphs are defining where the new trail will be so it will be safer for the public and protect the resources.

Up to a dozen crew members have been working 8 hours a day to get the trail up and running. Everyone here can't wait for it to open.

"We're very excited not just because it's been so long since the Rinconada Trail has opened but because this will be the first time we've actually constructed a trail," Souder said.

The trail is expected to re-open in September.
