A man who witnessed the fatal shooting involving a Bernalillo county deputy is showing KOB viewers some shocking video of that ordeal.

The video shows the suspect ramming a Bernalillo County Sheriff deputy's car with a pickup truck.

It may be the only real-time view of what happened Monday night.

"He just rammed right into the cop's door, boom!" said Joseph Cordova.

Joseph Cordova only had a few moments to pull out his cell phone when he and a friend drove up on a terrifying scene unfolding Monday night.

"He was trying to kill people," said Cordova.

Cordova asked KOB not to show his face.

But he showed us the incredible video he caught as a BCSO deputy's unit takes a direct hit from a suspect driving a red pickup truck.

Moments earlier, the sheriff's office says that man was ramming a woman's car. When she tried to get out and run, he tried to run her down. Joseph saw the whole thing, and says the woman had a small child with her.

"The woman and her little kid, and they're running, and like literally he's coming straight at them. He was trying to kill them," said Cordova. "They barely got like behind the railing."

A BCSO deputy drove up quick, and that's when Cordova started rolling -- capturing the second time the man violently rams the patrol unit.

Moments later, Cordova captured the shooting

"Once the guy was done ramming the cop car, he jumped out of the car, walked up to the police car with his hands in the air," said Cordova.

Cordova says he captured the suspect raising his hands after jumping out of the disabled truck.

Our production team counted 27 video frames -- that's less than a second -- before a shot rings out, and the suspect falls.

"To be honest, I think the cops were in the right," said Cordova.

Cordova said even as far back as he was he was afraid for his life, and there were other motorists even closer.

He says the suspect seemed unstoppable.

BCSO tells us they'll release more details about the man in that video during a media briefing Wednesday.

KOB expects to know more about the initial investigation into what happened as well.

A spokesman says they are interviewing all witnesses and evidence.
