SANTA FE, N.M. – A 57-year-old man is charged with an open count of murder after police said he admitted to killing his employee Thursday night.
According to the Santa Fe Police Department, Edwin Watters called police and said he shot and killed Diego Sena, 45, at a home on the 1100 block of East Alameda Street near Patrick Smith Park and Canyon Road.
Officers found Sena unconscious, bleeding and not breathing in the back yard of the home. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Detectives determined Sena was employed by Watters, who was in charge of remodeling work for the home where the incident happened. Police said the home belongs to Sena's niece.
Officers took Watters into custody as soon as they arrived on scene.
East Alameda was closed for about five hours while officers gathered evidence. The motive for the shooting remains under investigation at this time.
