JOB TITLE: Investigative Unit Intern-Summer 2013

COMPANY: KSTP-TV, News/Weather/Sports

SCHEDULE: Varies

STATUS: Part Time Temporary, Hourly

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be enrolled in a degree program at a trade school, college, or university which will

recognize the internship for class credit; junior or senior preferred

Ability to read, write and speak English well

Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Highly organized, detail oriented, and knows how to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and

manage time-sensitive material; flexible and able to deal with unexpected changes calmly and quickly

Follows directions well

Able to work with others as part of a team; ability to establish and maintain relationships with a variety of people

Proficient with computers and basic Web research methods. Must be able to learn more advanced Web research methods quickly.

Ability to answer telephones in a professional manner and take detailed messages

Must posses a valid driver's license and clean driving record as determined by the company (driving record will be checked)

Must be willing to work occasional weekend and evening hours.

DUTIES:

Assists in sourcing and researching investigative stories and series by using internet, email, as well as telephone and face to face interviews

Takes and places telephone calls from reporters, news sources, and the general public; confirms information as needed and relays information to appropriate personnel

Attends and interacts in meetings as needed

Writes and posts stories for the station website

Knowledgeable of local, national and world events

Looks for ways to expand skills and abilities to learn and understand the role of investigations in a news setting

Other duties as assigned
