Chris Egert - Anchor

Previous Experience
Chris joined 5 Eyewitness News in May 2012 as a weekend anchor. In May 2013 he took over as co-host on "Twin Cities Live". He was the morning news anchor at KIRO in Seattle, WA. His career in television journalism has taken him across the country and back with stops in Seattle, Orlando, Omaha, Rapid City, and Sioux Falls.

Chris is from Armour, South Dakota and a graduate of Huron University in South Dakota. His broadcasting career started at a tiny radio station in Huron where he was a student athlete by day and a radio DJ at night.

Career Highlights
Chris won an Emmy in 2013 for his reporting on Minnesota doctors on a goodwill mission in Tanzania. He was one of the first journalists in the world to arrive in Japan after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. He traveled overseas with the National Guard to cover the start of the War on Terror. Chris has interviewed world leaders, vice presidents, governors and hundreds of local politicians over the years. As a field reporter Chris has also been in the middle of blizzards, hurricanes, floods, and about every weather event you can imagine.

Personal Interests
Chris and his wife have two active children and a rescued American Bulldog named Sarge. Chris loves music, food, and an occasional locally brewed beer. He's actively involved with many Twin Cities based non-profit organizations including Operation Bootstrap Africa, Medical Simulation International, and the ALS Association of Minnesota/North Dakota/South Dakota.
