Minnesota Lynx player Seimone Augustus was recently stopped by a Roseville police officer for having an air freshener hanging from the rear-view mirror of her car.

The traffic stop happened around 10:30 a.m. Monday on Fairview Avenue at Highway 36.

Police say Augustus was stopped for having a suspended object between the driver and the windshield. Augustus tweeted that it was because of the air fresher.

“An obstruction, such as an air freshener hanging from a car’s rear view mirror can obstruct the driver’s view of merging traffic or a pedestrian crossing at an intersection,” Roseville police said in a statement.

Police say the officer also talked with Augustus about her status in Minnesota because she has an out-of-state license plate and driver’s license. Augustus tweeted that the officer stopped her for the air freshener but added he also started talking to her about theft at the nearby Rosedale Mall.

“I didn't know you can only drive Minnesota cars to a Minnesota mall and if not you must be stealing or doing something illegal,” Augustus tweeted after the incident.
