Tiger Cubs Make Public Debut at Minnesota Zoo

Two Amur tiger cubs made their public debut Tuesday morning at the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley.

The first cub was born at the zoo June 17. The second cub was born at the Saint Louis Zoo July 1 and came to the Minnesota Zoo July 19. The two female cubs were brought together to ensure the best socialization, the zoo says. Both were hand-reared because their mothers did not successfully nurse them.

The zoo says the cubs are nearly off bottles and are growing strong. They'll be on exhibit in the Tiger Lair along the Northern Trail at 10 a.m. daily, weather permitting.

For the past few months, viewers from around the world have been watching them grow via the zoo's live Tiger Cam, the zoo says. (The camera is no longer available now that the cubs are going on exhibit.)

A contest to name the cubs is taking place on the zoo's Facebook page.
