An era of soft drink history came to an end in Winona Tuesday.
For 80 years, the Winona Coca-Cola Bottling Company filled 6.5 ounce reusable glass bottles with Coke. But, the 6.5 ounce glass bottles are being retired.
More than 80 people gathered to watch as the last small glass bottles were filled Tuesday morning.
The last 6,000 bottles will be auctioned off for $20 a piece. All of the money will go towards a Winona bike path.
The last bottle will go to the Coca-Cola museum in Atlanta.
The company will continue to distribute a wide variety of products, so the change won't cost any jobs.
Eight ounce glass bottles of Coke will continue to be sold nationwide.
