This weekend there is an open house at the top of the Highland Water Tower in St. Paul. The tower’s observation deck will be open for visitors to see a spectacular sight of the area, including the Highland Park golf course and the Mississippi River. If it is a clear day, visitors can see planes taking off from the Minneapolis-St. Paul International airport.
The water tower is located at Snelling Avenue and Ford Parkway. It is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, and Sunday October 14. Admission is free. Visitors are invited to climb the 151-step staircase inside the tower to the observation deck.
The open house is designed to inform residents about municipal water and the efforts of the utility to preserve and protect water resources. Information about the utility’s water treatment process and distribution system will be available. Utility employees will be on hand to answer questions and provide information about utility services.
