A man who was driving an SUV in St. Paul was shot and killed by police after he took "evasive actions" at the officers.

It happened around 4 p.m. Tuesday on the 300 block of East Jessamine Avenue. Three men were inside the vehicle at the time.

Police say the driver took "evasive actions" but didn't say what those actions were. The officers felt threatened, so they fired on the vehicle.

Neighbors say they heard multiple shots.

Minneapolis police spokesman Sgt. William Palmer says Minneapolis police asked St. Paul police to stop the vehicle in relation to an ongoing narcotics case, but he says no other details would be made available due to the ongoing investigation.

Tuesday night, police questioned the two passengers, the officers involved in the shooting and witnesses.

Police have not identified the man who was killed or the officers involved.

More information could be released Wednesday, police say.
