Not only did the PCU collect 368 coats for Coats for Kids, but the PCU Community Foundation also collected $1,500 in donations that the Salvation Army will use to make 100 more coats for children.
“PCU and the PCU Community Foundation are proud to partner with the Salvation Army Coats for Kids drive to ensure no child goes without proper winter attire,” commented PCU President Brian Sherrick. “By starting early, donations increased six-fold from last year, and we thank everyone for their support.”
To increase 2011 donations, staff-decorated collection barrels were placed in PCU’s five branch locations in early January.
This is the third year PCU and the PCU Community Foundation have partnered with the Salvation Army to serve as a drop-off site and provide monetary support for the Coats for Kids program.
More than 290,000 coats and winter accessories have been distributed to Twin Cities children through Coats for Kids since the program began.
