Republicans in the Minnesota senate have a new leader. Eden Prairie Senator David Hann was elected the new Minority Leader on Friday afternoon.
“I am honored to have been chosen to lead our new caucus. We recognize that our state faces many challenges. The Republican Caucus is ready to face those challenges head-on,” said Minority Leader Hann.
“In the next biennium, Senate Republicans will continue to focus on economic growth and job creation. We will work for government reform and redesign to help make government more effective and efficient. ”
Senator Hann was re-elected to his fourth term in the Senate Tuesday. He has served since 2002.
“We wish our DFL colleagues well as we strive to work together for the best interests of our state. We look forward to working with DFL majorities to draft legislation to move Minnesota forward,” said Hann.
Senate Republicans hold 28 of the 67 state senate races. Democrats occupy the remaining 39 seats.
