A Minnesota Veteran receives a Purple Heart that is long overdue.
Mike Kirkpatrick of Bloomington accepted the award from Senator Amy Klobuchar during a ceremony at Bloomington City Hall Saturday.
Kirkpatrick was wounded on the battlefield in Vietnam back in 1968, despite his injuries he treated other wounded soldiers who were in harm's way.
Kirkpatrick says he didn't even know he had been hit by a piece of shrapnel, because he was focusing on helping fellow marines.
