Coach Kill Talks About Allegations Made by Receiver

Gopher Head Football Coach Jerry Kill addressed the media Monday after Minnesota's leading receiver quit the team.

A.J. Barker quit the team in a blistering email to Kill that he subsequently made public through his personal blog.

Kill said Barker had a confrontation with a trainer Thursday. He said he didn't know all of the details about that, but he had talked to Barker about not talking to an authority that way.

Kill said he felt bad for Barker and would do anything he could to help him.

He said, we have a bunch of players excited about playing Michigan State this weekend and we need to move forward.

Barker confirmed Sunday in a phone interview his intention to leave the Gophers and transfer to another school, preferably in the Big Ten.

He is a walk-on who has 30 receptions for 577 yards and seven touchdowns, by far the most on the team.

Barker has missed the last three weeks because of a sprained right ankle, the primary trigger in his decision to quit.

Barker says Kill yelled at him in front of the team last Thursday for not following team orders on his rehabilitation.
