The man who killed a friend in Brooklyn Park was sentenced to 21 years in prison.
19-year-old Deshawn Roberts of Brooklyn Center, shot at a group of people in Brooklyn Park’s Central Park and accidentally killed his good friend back in April.
Roberts declined to say anything at his sentencing, had been remorseful from the beginning. Hennepin County District Court Judge William Koch said Roberts thought of 16-year old Terrence Creamer as his little brother.
Roberts pleaded guilty to second-degree unintentional murder. He received more then the recommended sentence.
Assistant Hennepin County Attorney Christina Warren said he was shooting at someone else and “the risk to all the other people in the park that day” who could have been struck by the bullets he fired.
