There's a new arrest in connection with a sexual abuse investigation at Shattuck-St. Mary's prep school in Faribault.

According to Chief Don Gudmundson with the Faribault Police Department, former teacher, 65-year-old Joseph Machlitt of St. Paul was charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct Wednesday.

According to Gudmundson, a 46-year-old man came forward after hearing about the charges against former teacher Lynn Seibel.

The victim told police that after he was injured in 1980, he was treated and taken to Machlitt's dorm apartment. Machlitt was a dorm parent at the time.

The victim says he was sexually assaulted while under Machlitt's care. He said he was sexually assaulted by Machlitt again a second time at a later date.

Police believe at the time of the incidents Shattuck-St. Mary's administrators were not aware of the sexual abuse.

Machlitt's bail was set at $100,000 without conditions, and $50,000 with conditions.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Faribault Police at 507-334-4305.
