As we kick off the holiday shopping season and buy gifts for our families, let's not forget about those less fortunate.
The Salvation Army says need is greater than ever this year. Right now, they have 10,377 families that have asked for gifts. That's 1,200 more than this time last year.
The biggest needs are toys for older children up to 16 and for ethnic dolls.
"It's wonderful, 14,000 families, over 30,000 children served and over a hundred thousand toys given out," said Major Jeff Strickler. "I mean it's just wonderful to see."
If you'd like to donate some much-needed toys, one easy way to do it is during their "Fill the Truck" day on December 8th when they'll be outside all metro Walmarts from 9 to 5.
