The new Miss Minnesota USA and Miss Minnesota Teen USA began their reign on Sunday. They were crowned at the Burnsville Performing Arts Center in front of a crowd that filled the auditorium to capacity.
According to a press release from Future Productions pageant offices, the panel of judges selected Danielle Hooper of Inver Grove Heights as Miss Minnesota USA 2013 and Maggie McGill of Plymouth as Miss Minnesota Teen USA 2013.
According to Future Productions, the two winners will move on to compete at the national pageants next year. Winners of those competitions go on to represent the United
States in the Miss Universe competition as well as receiving thousands of dollars in prizes and awards.
Evening gown, swimwear and an interview are the areas the pageant contestants compete in. Those interested in competing in the annual pageant must be between the ages of 14 and 26 and be unmarried residents of Minnesota.
