A Minneapolis City Council committee has approved the nomination of Assistant Chief Janee Harteau as Minneapolis Police Chief.
The committee made the decision after a hearing Wednesday, as they listened to a long line of Harteau supporters.
She will replace Chief Tim Dolan who recently retired.
She will be the first woman police chief in Minneapolis history.
The City Council will have a full vote on Harteau's nomination on Friday.
