Last month, doctors told Deonna Day she had just weeks to live. As her dying wish, the 13 year old asked to go to prom.
In just ten days time, the community in Onamia, on the shores of Lake Mille Lacs, pulled together and threw her the prom of a lifetime.
The Salvation Army donated 50 dresses for Deonna and all of her friends, Heggie's donated pizzas, and countless other business contributed a DJ, limo, and decorations.
Deonna was first diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called Synovial Sarcoma about a year ago.
Doctors thought she'd beat it, but about a month ago she went into the hospital with pain, and the cancer had spread throughout her body.
Doctors told Deonna not to make plans beyond three weeks because they didn't expect her to live any longer. The cancer is so advanced they decided against even trying chemotherapy. Deonna's best friend, Savannah, told us that Deonna was happy she didn't have to lose her hair this time.
