MN Sex Offender Task Force Releases Initial Report

Updated: 06/17/2013 2:43 PM By: Scott Theisen

The Minnesota sex offender task force is calling for some major changes to the way the state deals with sex offenders.

The group turned over its initial report after working to find options besides civil commitment after offenders serve their jail sentence.

It found there are not enough facilities where offenders can get treatment. To fix that, it calls for money for new treatment centers, a plan to transition offenders back into society and increasing the use of GPS tracking.

The task force will continue working and will present a second report at the end of next year.
