A Minneapolis man has pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in the death of his girlfriend in their Brooklyn Park home.
Dymond Rene Hayden, 20, pleaded guilty Friday to the April 10 death of his girlfriend from a single gunshot to the chest, the Hennepin County Attorney's Office says.
The couple had been arguing in the days before the killing.
Shortly before midnight the evening of Aril 10, witnesses heard a scream and then a gunshot, the attorney's office says. Hayden came up the stairs of the house and told the owners to call for an ambulance.
The attorney's office says Hayden told conflicting stories of what happened and initially hid the gun in bushes in the neighborhood.
He was supposed to go on trial Monday. He's now set to be sentenced Jan. 10 and is expected to get a 15-year prison sentence, according to the attorney's office.
