Double-digit snow falls are forcing dozens of school districts across the state to cancel or delay classes on Monday.

nullAs of 6 a.m. Monday, 10.5 inches of snow had officially fallen at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, making it the third largest single day snowfall on record for the month of December.

Several cities got much more than that.  The National Weather Service is reporting areas with more than 16 inches of snow. To see the latest snow fall totals click here.

Sunday night the wind starting kicking in, creating blowing and drifting across parts of the state. In the Twin Cities, MN-Dot and local city crews were working overtime trying to keep up with the snow, but did not expect to have all the roads cleared until Monday.

By Sunday night, several dozen schools across the state had made the decision to delay or cancel classes all together. More are expected by morning.
