The snow brought the first test for Eden Prairie’s new $65,000 high-tech winter management system.
The city says they’re pleased with the outcome.
The system uses sensors to measure air and road temperatures, cameras to relay road conditions and monitors to track plows.
Officials tell us they weren’t planning on pre-treating roads Friday but then the system started sending alerts about icy roads.
They sent out crews and were able to get ahead of the weekend storm.
