A St. Paul father whose toddler was shot in the head entered a plea deal Thursday.
Lue Xiong was given two years probation on gross misdemeanor charges of negligent storage of a firearm.
Xiong's son, two-year-old Jacob Xiong was shot by his 9-year-old brother. Xiong and his wife were at work at the time.
It happened on Aug. 2 after Jacob's brother found the gun in a file cabinet inside a bedroom.
The complaint says the 9-year-old thought the gun was locked, pointed it at his little brother's head, and pulled the trigger.
Jacob Xiong was shot through the left side of his forehead. Jacob survived the gunshot wound.
If Xiong violates probation, he faces 365 days in jail.
The judge also sentenced him to do community outreach in the Hmong community on gun safety.
