Aaron McLeod scored midway through the third period to lift Bemidji State into a 1-1 tie with Denver in the opening game of their Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.
McLeod scored an even-strength goal at 11:30 of the third period, and it was all defense from there.
Denver (9-5-3, 7-3-3) took the lead on Chris Knowlton's power-play goal at 17:40 of the first period.
The Pioneers outshot Bemidji State (4-8-3, 3-7-3) by a 34-21 margin. But Beavers goalie Andrew Walsh made 33 saves, including the only shot on goal in overtime.
Juho Olkinuora made 20 saves for Denver.
