Don't expect standards to change anytime soon for athletes at Minneapolis Public Schools.

A proposal that would allow students to play sports with a grade point average below 2 if they were showing signs of improvement was tabled by the school board Tuesday.

They want to hear more about the number of kids impacted, get input from their committee and wait until a new athletic director is hired.

The issue can be expected to come back up in the spring.
