Local Gun Sales Up in Wake of Newtown Shooting

Local gun sales are up since the school shooting in Connecticut.

In Hennepin County, applications for a permit to carry have more than doubled each day since Friday. Tuesday, 61 people applied for a permit.

In Anoka County, the sheriff’s department said Monday was a record-breaking day for permits. They had 36 people come in for a permit.

President Barack Obama is launching an administration-wide effort to curb gun violence, underscoring the growing political consensus over tightening gun restrictions.
