The water main break forced dozens of businesses in downtown Minneapolis to close their doors.
The Warehouse District has over a thousand businesses and many of those are restaurants and bars. They cannot, under health codes, stay open if they do not have running water.
The North Loop business district was also affected with more than a hundred businesses facing the same issues.
The loss of water pressure also inconvenienced many people living in condos and apartments.
The loss of water was spotty in downtown. The Black Sheep Pizzeria was closed, but right next door, in the same building, the Loop Bar and Restaurant was open.
The Acme Comedy Company was forced to close its doors because it also serves liquor and food. A spokesperson for the comedy club tells 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that the business could lose between 20 and 30-thousand dollars, if the water main break forces them to stay closed through the weekend.
