Another anchor store will be opening at Ridgedale Center in the next few years.

Nordstom will be moving in as Macy's consolidates its two separate stores into one expanded store in early 2012, according to Ridgedale Center General Manager Joan Suko.

Macy's is planning to move into the section currently occupied by the women's and children's departments. It's currently 202,000 square feet. The store will add 84,000 square feet for a bigger store in one location.

Nordstrom will take over Macy's men's and home departments. That section is 138,000 square feet. It will be the second store in Minnesota, besides the one at Mall of America.

Nordstrom is expected to open its two level store sometime in Fall 2015.

The news comes as Macy's in downtown St. Paul announced Thursday it will be closing that location. That store is one of six closing nationwide in the early spring.

The St. Paul store has 153 associates and opened in 1963. Final clearance sales will start Monday, Jan. 7, and run for 7-11 weeks.

Laid-off workers could be offered positions in nearby stores, and eligible full-time and part-time workers will be offered severance benefits.
