Texting and driving is out, and next up is texting and flying.

The FAA is considering new rules to stop pilots from using personal wireless devices in the cockpit. It wouldn’t apply to iPads or laptops because pilots use them for work purposes.

The FAA says several incidents prompted the proposal, including a problem in 2009 when two Northwest Airlines pilots using their personal laptops flew 150 miles past Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

The FAA will collect comments for 60 days before making a final decision.
