Eagan police say a 32-year-old man was arrested Friday after allegedly threatening to shoot a utility contractor.

Just after 9:30 a.m. a utility contractor working in the area of 1696 Woodgate Lane called police and reported that a man came out of the home and "verbally threatened to shoot her," according to police spokesperson Desiree Schroepfer.

Officers were unable to make contact at the home, so negotiators and tactical teams were called in.

At 12:50 p.m. officers were able to make contact and took Daniel Thomas Drobac into custody without incident, Schroepfer said.

Drobac was taken to the Dakota County Jail for making terroristic threats.

As police dealt with the incident, roads around the home were closed and police worked with a nearby school to ensure there were no interruptions is bus service, Schroepfer said. Police also used a phone notification system to send out a message to about 238 properties in the area advising people to stay inside until the situation was resolved.

Officers had recently had contact with Drobac in an incident in which he was taken to a detoxification facility, but he has no previous criminal history.
