First degree assault charges have been filed after Brooklyn Park shooting that left a teen paralyzed.
The Hennepin County Attorney charged 18-year-old Laltigus Rodriguez Laray Lyons of Brooklyn Park with aiding and abetting first-degree assault committed for benefit of a gang and with aiding/abetting first-degree assault.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to a large fight around 12:30 a.m. January 6th at a home on Brookdale Drive and Welcome Avenue. They found a 17-year-old with a gunshot wound in the back, that left him paralyzed from the waist down.
Police later determined the shooting was gang related.
Lyons could serve a maximum of 50 years in prison.
