St. Cloud Police Use Pepper Spray on Crowd Outside Bar

Police had to use pepper spray to subdue a rowdy crowd outside a St. Cloud bar.

According to police, an officer saw two men fighting outside McRudy’s Bar on St. Germain Street West around 2:12 a.m. Sunday and tried to break it up.

One of the men allegedly started pushing the officer and grabbed his jacket, causing them both to fall to the ground. Police then say about 40-50 people circled the officer and the suspect and some were pulling at the officer’s jacket.

Pepper spray was used to disperse the crowd, and other officers helped with the arrest and crowd control.

The two men involved in the fight were 22-year-old Marvin Glen Matthews and 22-year-old Jeffrey Fitzgerald Bias II of St. Cloud, police say.

Matthews was charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing the legal process, and Bias was charge with disorderly conduct.

The officer was not injured in the altercation.
