A wood siding mill in Two Harbors is getting a $6 million upgrade.
The Louisiana Pacific plant has closed for four weeks while a huge machine is installed. The machine presses aspen chips under extreme heat and pressure into sheets of wood siding which is used in the housing industry.
Plant manager Steve Twining says a crane will lift the old press through the roof and put the new one in place. Twining says the new equipment will increase the plant's capacity by 25 percent.
Minnesota Public Radio News says the plant employs 129 workers with 32 on temporary layoff.
