Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting in rural Pine County.

According to the Pine County Sheriff's Department, a deputy was helping the State Patrol attempt to arrest a wanted felon, identified as Louis Ralph Workman, Jr.

Workman was at a home on Water Lily Road Sunday when authorities tried to arrest him.

Workman avoided arrest, and left in a vehicle.

Authorities say he sped toward officers who were not in their squads. The officers fired several shots at Workman, who was hit once.

Workman began driving away from the scene and was later forced into a ditch and taken into custody. He was taken to a hospital, with a gunshot wound to the hand.

The deputy and state trooper were not injured.

At this point, additional details have not been released.
