Fewer than two dozen Elk were bagged during this season's hunt in northwestern Minnesota.
The state doesn't have many wild elk, just two small herds. One in Marshall County, the other in Kittson County. The department says the low harvest number will be a topic of discussion in upcoming meetings
Still, the DNR isn't sure why hunters were not overly successful this season.
Meanwhile, while for the most part, the brown winter is said to be great for the pheasant population.
The DNR says that's because the birds aren't having to work that hard to find food.
The DNR is expecting a greater survival rate this winter.
